History of the Clinic

Known as Fox River Valley Equine Clinic, Keith Merritt, DVM established the practice in 1992 with a passion for treating horses.  Here is a look at his schedule from a day or two in 1992:

As time passed and the area became more urbanized the horse enthusiast population grew.  This growth fueled the practice as it became Merritt & Associates Equine Hospital with a staff and facility dedicated to implementing technological advances in diagnostics and treatments for the betterment of the horse community.

In 2016, the practice was purchased by long time veterinarians Dr. Dana Marsh, Dr. Chris Downs and their business partner Dr. Randy Bimes.  Today, Chicago Equine Medical Center honors its history of quality veterinary care while keeping to its original philosophy:

To improve and maintain each horse’s health so that it can comfortably perform at the peak of its ability, while enjoying a longer, more successful career and productive life.
